Donna Jean Childs

TOWNSHIP OF LEWISTON – Donna Jean Childs, age 76, died on Sunday, May 12, 2019, in the arms of her loving husband Glenn.

A life filled with love, happiness and family. Family is truly what mattered the most to Donna. She enjoyed every minute spent with her loved ones especially her Great Grandchildren. Close to the love for her family, was her love for the golf course. Still swinging the 9 iron at the age of 74. Most people remember Donna as the “office lady” at the Poynette High School. To many she was so much more. For over 30 years Donna devoted herself to being the best playground supervisor, bus driver and office administrator. After retiring in 1999, Glenn and Donna moved to Westfield. As years passed, Glenn and Donna became a staple to the lake community, starting many events included Ice Golf and the 4th of July Pontoon Parade in Lawrence Lake. Donna fought her battle with cancer until the very end. “A million times I needed you. A million times I cried. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died”.

Donna is survived by her husband, Glenn Childs; sons, William Mitchell (Angie Walton) Childs, Rick (Peggy Johnson) Childs; brothers, Bill (Shirley) McCormick, Phil McCormick, Marv McCormick; brother-in-law, Jim (Pam) Childs; sister-in-law, Donna (Don) Stoltenberg; grandchildren, Christopher (Kristi) Paskey, Ericka Childs, Melissa Childs, Kory Childs, Derek (Taryn) Childs; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Danny, Elliot and Allie Paskey, Devan Paynter, Bella and Kylie Schernecker, Connor and Kelby Colstad, Kiera Childs, Siera and Harper Childs and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret (Barnett) McCormick and her in-laws Clarence and Lorraine Childs.

Memorial services will be held at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette, Wisconsin, on Monday, May 20, 2019, at 12:00 noon, with Monsignor James Gunn presiding. Inurnment will be private. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
