June M. Miller

PORTAGE -- June M. Miller, age 67, of Portage, passed away due to complications from a recent surgery on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the UW Hospital in Madison.

June was born on June 6, 1947 in Portage, the daughter of Victor and Nellie (Hamilton) Phelps.  She graduated from Portage High School in 1965.  June was married to Donald R. Miller on September 18, 1965 in Portage.  She had worked at K-mart in Baraboo when it first opened in 1973, then Portage, Greely Co., and back to Portage, until her retirement in 2007.  June met many life-long friends through her work. In her retirement, she worked for St. Vincent de Paul in Portage.  June enjoyed camping in Colorado, dancing, and was a collector of many used treasures.  June especially loved spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.

She is survived by her husband, Donald;  her sons, Scott (Janelle) Miller and Greg (Rodnie) Miller, all of Portage;  her grandchildren, Ty Miller, Travis Miller, Brooklyn Miller, Brad Hudzinski, Ericka Hudzinski (Gary Maynard and boys, Ryan and Tylor), and Taylor Hudzinski;  her great-grandchildren, Nahdia Herbert, Estella Herbert, and Russell Maynard;  her sisters, Evelyn Kildow, Waupun, Barbara Loomis, Deerfield, and Nancy (Jim) Bethke, Pardeeville;  her two labs, Barney and Freddie;  other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with the Rev. Julie Wilson officiating.  Inurnment will be private.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Monday at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage.

The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to St. Vincent de Paul Society or the American Cancer Society.
