Gertrude K. “Gertie” Bartnick

WYOCENA – Gertrude K. “Gertie” Bartnick, age 96, died on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena.

Gertrude was born March 10, 1918 in Sauk City, the daughter of Henry and Bertha (Ilg) Hutterli.  She married Norman Bartnick on October 29, 1938 in Sauk County.  He preceded her in death in 1950.  Gertie enjoyed gardening, puzzles, sewing and quilting.  She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Homemakers.    

She is survived by her children, Norman (Patricia) Bartnick, Jr., Portage, and Mike (Sharon) Bartnick, Pardeeville; her grandchildren, Traci (Scott) Hohn, Pardeeville, and Scot (Jody) Bartnick, Pardeeville; her great-grandchildren, Brandon, Austin, Alaina and Aaron; her brothers, Henry (Janie) Hutterli, Portage and Conrad (Mary Ellen) Hutterli, Eau Claire, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Norman Bartnick, her son, Dennis Bartnick, and her sister Elsie. 
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage with Fr. David Greenfield presiding.  Burial will follow at Sauk City Cemetery in Sauk City. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Columbia Health Care Center in Gertie’s honor.
