Joan  M. Briede

POYNETTE  --  Joan  M. Briede, age 82, of Poynette, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at University Hospital in Madison.

Joan was born on May 18,1932 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Mary Schutz.  She graduated from Portage High School and spent wonderful summers at the Beach Gardens along the Wisconsin River, and was married on June 6, 1953 to Arthur Briede at the Poynette United Methodist Church.  Arthur pre-deceased her on March 28, 2010.  Joan was proud of her Bohemian Hungarian ancestry.  She loved being a grandma and great-grandma, and her best times were spent vacationing with her husband, Arthur, and time in the Wisconsin northwoods with family and friends.  Joan was an active member of Poynette Inch United Methodist Church. 

She is survived by her three daughters, Mary (Kurt) Pustina, of Dodgeville, and their children, Nicholas (Lindsay) Pustina, and Matthew (Olga) Pustina, and their two daughters, Annamaria and Evelysa, all of Anchorage, Alaska; Julie (Didier) Ibar, of New Berlin, and his daughter, Meghan Ibar, of Milwaukee; Linda Steingraeber, of Lodi and her children, Jacob (Gretchen) Steingraeber, and their children, Sienna and Chase, all of Sussex, and Anna (Dennis) Cobb, of Stoughton, and their son, Jaxxen, Jennifer Steingraeber, of New Zealand, and Andrea Steingraeber, of Milwaukee, other near relatives and many close friends. Joan was preceded by her parents, her husband, a brother, Harry F. Kannry, her in-laws, Julius Karl and Marie Anna Briede, and her sister and brother-in-law, Frieda and James F. Daley.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette with the Rev. Diane Vielhuber officiating.  Burial will follow in Dekorra Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the International Crane Foundation or the Mackenzie Environmental Center.
