Arthur P. Docter

PORTAGE  --    Arthur P. Docter, age 97, of Portage, passed away at his home at the Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena on Tuesday, September 23, 2014.

Arthur was born on November 16, 1916 in a town of Stetsonville, to the late John and Mary (Rudolph) Docter.  He graduated in 1934 from Medford High School.

Arthur married Eleanor A. Long on May 10, 1941.  He served as a Corporal in the Army Air Force from 1942-1945, stationed in England and France.  He managed the Thermogas Company of Portage.  He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Portage.  He was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus (C.W. Henney), and belonged to Portage Elks Club and Portage Country Club.  He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, traveling and spending time with his family.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Eleanor;  his daughters, Rona Lee Christopherson, Portage, and Diane (Mike) Mueller, New Braunfels, Texas;  his sons, Lynn Docter, Madison, and John (Lisa) Docter, Oconomowoc;  his grandchildren, Deborah (Nolan) Teigen, Theresa (Ryan) Cin, Sarah Docter, Traci (Peter) McDonald, Chet (Beverly) Mueller, Stephanie and Matthew Docter;  nine great-grandchildren;  two step-great grandchildren;  his sister, Ruth Armbrust, Medford.  Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Mildred McNamar, Mabel Newton and Mary Ann Schiller.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to a charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank the staff of Columbia Health Care Center for their care of our father.
