Donald Lawrence Holl

POYNETTE  --  Donald Lawrence Holl, dear son of Lawrence and Aleta Holl, was born on September 4, 1926, in Caledonia Township.  Donald, our beloved father passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014.  We his daughters, want to try and help you understand what kind of man we had for a father.

He was kind.  He was patient.  His “4 girls” came before anything else.  He always was ready to lend a helping hand.  He was a proud and hard working farmer.  He loved to tease and always was quick with a witty line.  He made beautiful birthday cakes for his family.  He was a gentle grandpa, great-grandpa, and he also loved his “furry” grandkids.  He loved nature and had a soft heart for animals.  He was a good man.  He will be dearly missed. 

Don was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Gladys.  He is survived by his daughters, Mary (Jim) Urban, Betty (Terry) Anderson, Donna (Jeff) Knuteson, and Susan (Jim) Johnson; his grandchildren, Renea (Tim) Zuehlke, Nicolas (Sandi) Gardner, Jennifer (Todd) Ott, Stephanie (John) Janecek, Andrew (Nikki) Johnson and Bryan Johnson; his great-grandchildren, Jacob, Emily, Zachary, Isabella, Corbin, Boston, Dexter, and soon to be one more.  He is further survived by his sister, Betty Lou (Ernie) Koepp, his sisters-in-law, Sandy Holl and Judy Holl, his brother-in-law, Cliff Hohlstein, other dear relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his siblings, Dorene Hohlstein, Robert Holl, and Ron Holl, his sister-in-law, Jackie Holl, an infant grandson, his step-mother, Ella Holl and other dear relatives close to his heart. 

A private burial will be held at a later date.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette is assisting the family.
