Dale J. Koch

PORTAGE – Dale J. Koch, age 83, died on Sunday, August 17, 2014, at Tivoli in Portage.

Dale was born on December 7, 1930, in Portage, the son of August “Shorty” and Lorraine (Rafferty) Koch.  He married his high school sweetheart, Alma Hayes on October 21, 1950.  She preceded him in death on June 4, 2014, after 63 years of marriage.  In his younger days he enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.  In high school he was a Golden Glove boxer.  He loved spending time with his family, going to garage sales, tinkering with electronics and watching the Green Bay Packers.   

He is survived by his daughters, Deb (Tom) Little, of Pardeeville, Susan Steiner, of Pardeeville, Nancy Wendt, of Hazelhurst, and Tina (Roger Benzine) Woelflein, of Packwaukee; her grandchildren, Eric, Kyle, Krystal, Brent, Bryan, Sarah, Stephanie, and Aaron; 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Kay Koch, of Sun Prairie, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alma Koch, his in-laws, Peter and Myrtle Hayes, Sr., his son-in-laws, Wayne “John” Steiner, and Daniel Wendt, his sister Jean (Koch) Vavrik, his brother, Larry Koch and his aunt, Myrtle Rafferty .

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage.  A Prayer Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating.  Inurnment will be held at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Portage.
