Vincent F. “Vince” Konicek

POYNETTE  --  Vincent F. “Vince” Konicek, age 79, died on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at his home in Poynette.

Vince was born on January 6, 1935 in Racine the son of Vincent J. and Helen (Kuzela) Konicek.  He served his country in the United States Air Force. He spent his early years (1949 until 1969) working summers and eventually owning the 4 Mile Drive In in Racine.  He taught at various levels including K12 and college courses with his last 15 years devoted to children with special needs. Vince’s 35 years in California and his love for horses eventually led to his dream of owning a horse ranch in the hills of southern California. 

He is survived by his children, Stephen (Tamra) Konicek, of Sun Prairie, Kathleen Konicek, of Madison, Susan (Dave) Westover, of Sun Prairie, Nancy Miller, of Racine and Victoria Wilson, of DeForest; his grandchildren, Sean Brown, Cecily Wieland, Angie Konicek, Cameron Klauser, Jadon, Jacob, and Sophia Wilson; his sister, Rose Gresser, Seattle, WA, other near relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George and Valarian, a sister, Mary Jane.

Funeral services will be private. The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette is assisting the family.
