Gretchen “Cricket” Rudy

PORTAGE --  Gretchen “Cricket” Rudy, age 91, died on Monday, May 19, 2014, at Columbia Healthcare Center in Wyocena. 

Gretchen was born on December 23, 1922 in Corry, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William and Amy (Bell) Foster.  She worked as a Registered Nurse in a nursing home, and had also worked for ABC Connections, helping to care for seniors in the area.  Gretchen was a member of the Gale Singers for many years, and the Resurrection Choir at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  She is survived by her special friend, Malu Durkin, Portage, as well as many other friends.  Gretchen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Emerson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Portage, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Portage.
