Daniel G. Schoeneberg

POYNETTE  --  Daniel G. Schoeneberg, age 82, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at his home in Poynette, surrounded by his family.  

Daniel was born on March 6, 1931 in the Township of Leeds, the son of Raymond C. and Walida (Mielke) Schoeneberg.  He was the youngest of six children.  He graduated from Poynette High School in 1949 and served his country in the United States Air Force for 2 years.  Dan was married to Kathleen Traut at St. Olaf’s, in DeForest on November 10, 1956.  Together they had four children.  Dan was a sales representative for Vita Plus and Cooperative Services; selling to farmers and mills where he made lasting friendships.  He enjoyed all sports, especially local sports, and watching his grandchildren compete in their sports.  Dan especially enjoyed and loved nature.  He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.   

Dan is survived by his wife, Kathleen, of Poynette; his children, Lisa, of Monona, Thomas of Poynette, Maureen (Chad) Franklin, of Waunakee, and Patrick (Trisha) of Elkhorn; his grandchildren, Quinn (Jessica) and Ian Schoeneberg, Nicole and Kaelin Franklin, Kyle, Lucas, and Emma Schoeneberg; his brother, Raymond (Emily) Schoeneberg, of Arlington, and his sister, Mary Schoeneberg, of Poynette; his brothers-in-law, Henry Pulsfus, of Portage, and Donald Holl, of Poynette, and his sister-in-law, Marilyn Crapp, of Poynette, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many close friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Margaret, and his sisters, Dorothy Wagner, Ethel Pulsfus, and Gladys Holl.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leeds, (W6906 CTH K, Arlington, WI 53911) with Rev. Jacob Scott officiating.  Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Poynette Athletic Booster Club.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Pastor Scott Schwertfeger and Pastor Jacob Scott, Fr. Ray Dischler, St. Jude Hospice, especially Greg, Dr. Kastenberg, and many friends for their acts of kindness.

Thank you, Dad, for everything.
