Nancy E. Bethke

PACIFIC TOWNSHIP—Nancy E. Bethke, age 72, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

Nancy was born on December 7, 1945, in Poynette, the daughter of Victor and Nellie (Hamilton) Phelps. She graduated from Baraboo High School and married James Bethke on October 19, 1968, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Baraboo. Nancy worked at Flambeau in Baraboo for 20 years and Saint-Gobain in Portage for 9 years. She enjoyed outdoor crafting, flower gardens and all Wisconsin sports. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage.

She is survived by her husband, Jim of Pardeeville; children, Todd (Toni) Bethke of Delavan and their daughter, Tia, Kevin Bethke of Portage; sisters, Evy Kildow of Waupun, Barb Loomis of Deerfield, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, June Miller.  

Funeral services will be held at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 850 Armstrong St., Portage, WI, on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Greg Hovland officiating. Burial will follow at Pacific Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage on Monday, November 12, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Nancy’s name to UW Carbone Cancer Center, 600 Highland Avenue, K4/658, Madison, WI 53792-6164.

The family would like to thank the staff at Heartland Hospice and UW Carbone cancer Center for their care and support.
