Marion E. Gerstenkorn

PORTAGE/MADISON – Marion E. Gerstenkorn, 87, passed away peacefully at Oak Park Place in Madison on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Marion was born on February 2, 1931, in Portage, the son of Ernest and Bonnie (Rasmussen) Gerstenkorn. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Marion was retired from the US Postal Service, where he had worked as a letter carrier.  He had a great love for music.

He is survived by his daughters, Denise (Michael) Hinnendael of Madison, and Marla Mae Eddy of Madison;  two grandchildren, Joseph and Jeffrey Hinnendael;  two sisters, Hazel Patchin of Portage, and Kay (Walter) Gjavenis of Portage; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, David Wesley Gerstenkorn and his brothers, Edward and Paul Gerstenkorn.

Graveside services were held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Silver Lake Cemetery, Portage, Wisconsin. 

In the future, a memorial service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 211 W. Pleasant St., Portage, Wisconsin, on Friday, November 9, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., with Fr. Dave Mowers officiating. A graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. in Silver Lake Cemetery, with military rites provided.  Visitation will be at the church on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 12:00 noon until the time of the service.
