Sandra Lea Jacobs

PORTAGE – Sandra Lea Jacobs, age 73, passed away peacefully at her home in Portage on Thursday, November 1, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

Sandy was born on December 7, 1944, in Monroe, the daughter of James and Vivetta (Burkhalter) Stearns. She graduated from Pardeeville High School. Sandy married Thomas Jacobs on October 17, 1964, at St. Mary’s in Pardeeville. She was a teacher’s aide for the Portage Public Schools for 31 years. Sandy loved flower gardening, both tending her gardens at home as well as her special area of Pauquette Park. She was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage.

She is survived by her husband, Tom; children, Stephen (Judy) Jacobs and Dawn (Michael) Nelson, all of Portage; grandchildren, Sydney and Logan Jacobs and Jacob, Riley, Jack and Hilary Nelson; sisters, Barb (Jack) Cook of Pardeeville, Deb (Russ) Manthey of Pardeeville, Mary Beth (Mark) Dorn of Surprise, AZ; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.  

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. Inurnment will be at St. Mary Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage on Monday, November 5, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sandra’s honor to the Greater Portage Youth Education Foundation, Inc., P. O. Box 872, Portage WI 53901.
