Kayla Brooke Johnson

PORTAGE – Our beloved Kayla Brooke Johnson, of Portage, received her angel wings unexpectedly on September 4, 2018.
Kayla was born on December 15, 1990 to Rhonda Johnson and Dwight Johnson Jr.  Kayla lived life to the fullest, loved harder than anyone and made sure that everyone knew how much they meant to her. She was not only a beautiful woman on the outside, but her beauty shined from the inside with the words she spoke, the touch she gave, and the way she embraced every moment. Through all the ups and downs that life threw at her she continued to rise above. Kayla was a loving, active and present mother of two very young boys and she gave her whole heart and soul to them.  Kayla’s smile was contagious, her laugh impeccable, and her humor was to live for. Anyone that had the pleasure to know Kayla knew she loved with all her heart and always made an imprint on yours. She was continually trying to make things better for everyone around her. She would challenge you to live in the moment, to tell those you love how important they are and never judge others.
She will be forever missed, never forgotten and always alive in the stories we tell.
Kayla is survived by her two sons Landen (6) and Cameron (4) of Portage, her best friend and mother Rhonda Johnson of Portage, boyfriend Chris Herbert of Pardeeville, step-father Allen Johnson of Kendal, brother Jake Johnson (Taylor Talley), nephews Malachi and Jett of Baraboo, brother Coltyn Johnson (Courtney Olson) of Portage, grandparents Jim and Nyla Moan of Portage, many aunts, uncles, cousins, father Dwight Johnson Jr. of Janesville and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her Grandfather Dwight Johnson Sr., Grandmother Lillian Johnson, Aunt Janine Knox and Uncle John Freidel (who greeted her at the gate with a swift kick in the butt).

A celebration of life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2018 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home, 430 W Wisconsin St., Portage, with Rev. Michael Lee leading the celebration. Friends are encouraged to share memories at this time.  Family will be receiving friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to “Kayla’s Memorial Fund”, an account set up for Kayla’s boys at Associated Bank, 222 E. Wisconsin St., Portage, WI 53901.
