Tony B. Schumacher

PORTAGE—Tony B. Schumacher, 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Portage, on Monday, July 23, 2018, with family at his side.

Tony was born on May 24, 1951, in Monroe, Wisconsin, the son of Kenneth and Jean (Doyle) Schumacher. After graduation from Darlington High School, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He spent his lifetime working on the railroad. He enjoyed fishing, pheasant and turkey hunting. He was an avid trap shooter, serving on the board of the Portage Rod and Gun Club for many years. He was a fan of the Packers, Brewers and Badgers. Tony loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He loved the peace and tranquility of his country home, especially being outside and watching the birds.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol (Bartels) Schumacher of Portage; daughter, Kate (Ben) Hillyer of Rice Lake; mother, Jean Schumacher of Mt. Horeb; grandchildren, Kaila, Andrew and Evan Hillyer; sisters, JoAn (Fred) Shreeves of Mt. Horeb, Kris (Jim) Cuccia of Verona, Terri (Bill) Simpson of Mt. Horeb, Roxanne (Jon) Krantz of Mt. Horeb; Renee (René Gagner) Schumacher of Mt. Horeb; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth and infant daughter, Amy.

A Celebration of Tony’s Life will be held at the Portage Rod and Gun Club from 4:30 p.m. until dusk on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Inurnment will be private. Visitation will be at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage on Friday, August 3, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
