Cleo J. Spring

PORTAGE – Cleo J. Spring, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Tivoli in Portage.

Cleo was born on February 21, 1930, in Wonewoc, the daughter of Elmer “Dewey” and Hazel Peterson. On November 27, 1948, Cleo was married to Robert E. Spring in Wonewoc, Wisconsin. She worked many years for various credit unions. After retirement, Bob and Cleo moved to Portage to be closer to the grandchildren. They spent much of their time enjoying and caring for them. Cleo was a volunteer at Divine Savior for many years. She was also an avid knitter and donated baby hats to various hospitals. Family truly meant everything to Cleo.

She is survived by her two daughters, Pam (Dan) Laatsch, Lori Roche; grandchildren, Kendra Kreklow, Kyle Roche, Kaycie Roche; brother, Ray Peterson; sister, Janet Stanek, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Hazel Peterson; husband, Bob Spring; son-in-law, Tom; grandson-in-law, Joseph Kreklow; sister, Shirley (Linus) Bollig; brother, Jay Peterson; brother-in-law, Jeep Stanek; and sister-in-law, Rita Peterson.

Memorial services will be held at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, Wisconsin, on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. Inurnment will be private at Highland Memory Gardens in Madison. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Tivoli for their wonderful care of Cleo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Cleo’s name.

Thank you for teaching us that “family” means everything. We will love and cherish your memories forever.
