Robert Brown

BRIGGSVILLE  /  PORTAGE  --  Robert Brown, of Briggsville, WI passed away at the grand age of 94.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home, 430 W. Wisconsin St., Portage, WI  53901.  The Rev. Barbara Bolz will officiate.  Inurnment will be private.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. 

Robert was born on March 9, 1914 in Johannesburg, South Africa, to the late William Canavan and Mabel Alice (Hawkins) Brown.  He was united in marriage to Roberta Jean Kimball for 65 years.  Robert spent his life in the field of aviation.  He worked at South African Airways for 15 years and served in the South African Air Force during World War II.  After the war, he continued in aviation with his own company, United Air Parts, Ltd., selling aircraft and aircraft products throughout Central and East Africa.

Robert is survived by his wife, Roberta;  his son and his wife, Michael Lee and Deborah Jane (Lentz) Brown of Stafford, VA;  his daughter and her husband, Donna Jean and William Granger of Waukesha, WI;  his son, Craig Canavan Brown of Muskego, WI;  six grandchildren, Patrick Canavan Brown (1968), Chesapeake, VA, Colin Andrew Brown (1972), Stafford, VA, Scott Canavan Brown (1976), Phoenix, AZ, Stephanie Anne Brown (1978), Fredericksburg, VA, Jeffrey Carl Brown (1980), Plymouth, MN, and Lisa Suzanne Brown (1984), New Berlin, WI;  one great-granddaughter, Kathryn Nicole Brown (1994), Chesapeake, VA;  one sister, Daphne Elizabeth (Brown) (Thomas) Tremoulet, Howick, South Africa;  nieces, nephews, other relatives and many close friends. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in his name.
