Norman Wallace Hill

PORTAGE  -- Norman Wallace Hill, age 86, of Portage, passed from this life on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Divine Savior Hospital.

He was born on December 22, 1922, the son of Matthew and Aili Hill.  Norman grew up in Brantwood, Wisconsin as a proud Finlander.  His parents immigrated from Finland and preceded him in death.  As a young man he enjoyed hunting, fishing, basketball and boxing.  Norman was a superb salesman, working for Colgate Palmolive until his retirement in 1980.  After retirement, he and Margaret enjoyed years of golfing and trips to Florida to escape the snow.

Norman leaves behind his loving wife, Margaret;  daughter, Sonja Roberts Hatch (Jack) and granddaughters, Regan Roberts and Caslon Hatch;  his sister, Agnes Pokela, Tomahawk, WI;  many nieces and nephews.

Family will greet friends between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2009 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage.  A memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m., with the Rev. Tom Countryman officiating.

The family wishes to extend thanks to the staff at Divine Savior Rehabilitation and Divine Savior Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to send a donation to the Columbia County Humane Society.
