Robert W. Lenz

PORTAGE  -- Robert W. Lenz, age 79, of Portage, died on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Northview Manor in Portage.

Robert was born on July 23, 1930, in Portage, the son of Frank and Anna (Moll) Lenz.  He graduated from Portage High School, and served his country with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  Robert was employed at Red Goose Shoe Store and Quality Bakery in Portage.  He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, and the American Legion.

Robert is survived by his sisters, Helen Moran, Pontiac, IL, and Evelyn Sekel, Doylestown; his sister-in-law, June Lenz, Portage, his nieces, nephews, friends, loved ones, and his dog, Timber.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Herman Lenz, William Lenz, Caroline Pederson, Edward Lenz, WalterLenz, Ada Schkirkie, Leonard Lenz, and by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Portage, with the Rev. Alan Boeck officiating. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery where Portage area veterans will conduct military honors.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 9:00 until the time of the services at the church.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.

The family would like to thank the staff of Northview Manor, Southern Care Hospice, and the VA Hospital for their wonderful care of Bob.
