Roy Lipsey

MONTELLO / OXFORD  --  Eldridge Roy Lipsey, age 87, of Oxford, died on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the Montello Care Center in Montello.

Roy was born on November 22, 1921, in Union, South Carolina, the son of Oliver Wendell Lipsey and Ruby Bledsoe Lipsey.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy.  Roy married Elaine R. Niebuhr on December 20, 1945 in Madison.  Elaine preceded him in death on February 1, 2000.  Roy worked as a mechanic most of his life. 

Survivors include his daughter, Debbie (Stan) Killman, Oxford, a brother C. Kent (Judy) Lipsey, Marshall, a sister, Margaret (J. Carson) Atkins, Spartanburg, SC, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Besides his wife, Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Grady Lipsey, and his sister, Wilma Melton.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 on Friday, October 30, 2009, at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage.  Burial will follow in Oxford Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.   

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
