Edward W. O’Keefe

PORTAGE  -- Edward W. O’Keefe, age 94, of Portage, died on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Northview Gardens in Portage.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Briggsville, with Fr. Jim Murphy presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Briggsville.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.

Edward O’Keefe was born on April 15, 1915 in the Township of New Haven, Adams County, Wisconsin, the son of Maurice and Margaret (McMahon) O’Keefe.  He farmed on the homestead farm his entire life.  Edward was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Briggsville, Dr. C. W. Henney Knights of Columbus Council #1637, Portage, and had served on the New Haven Town Board and the Marquette Adams Telephone Board.  He loved to fish, and go to Maggie Mae’s to listen to her sing. 

He is survived by a special nephew, Dennis O’Keefe;  his sister-in-law, Betty O’Keefe;  his brother-in-law, Barney Boyle;  nieces, nephews, other near relatives and many close friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Francis O’Keefe and Bernard O’Keefe, and two sisters, Gladys O’Keefe and Catherine Boyle.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Northview Gardens of Portage for their care to Edward.
