Arthur I. Ondal

PORTAGE  --  Arthur I. Ondal, age 74, of Portage, died after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, May 15, 2009 at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo with his daughter at his side.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, W8267 Hwy 33 E, Portage, with Pastor Dick Inglett officiating.  Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison.  Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at  Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage and on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. 

Arthur was born on April 30, 1935 in Stanley, Wisconsin the son of Ingvald and Salome Ondal.  He worked for the U.S. Forest Products in Madison until his retirement. He married Eleanor B. “Mitzie” Elliott in Stanley, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2004. He served his country in the Korean War.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Kevin) Ziegler, Portage; grandchildren, Alissa Ziegler and Mackenzie Ziegler; special aunt, Eleanor “Ellie” Fix, Madison; special friends, Kathy and Dick Krueger, Mary Anderson, Sandy Johnson. Boots and LaVerne Brandt and Toni and Karl Kellor.  He was preceded in death by His parents; his wife, Eleanor “Mitzie” and brother, Robert Ondal.

Thank you to Home Health United of Columbia and Sauk counties, the special care givers, Paige Kohler, Bill Barto, Lynn Oestrich. As well as a special thank you to Pastor Dick Inglett, and many dear and special friends for support.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Home Health United Hospice of Sauk and Columbia counties.
