Bette J. (Fancher Schwoegler) Reuhl

PORTAGE  --  Bette J. (Fancher Schwoegler) Reuhl, age 85, of Portage, died on Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at Divine Savior Extended Care in Portage.

Bette was born on July 5, 1924, in Superior, Wisconsin, the daughter of Douglas and Elizabeth Fancher.  She had been a Medical Technician at UW Hospital.  Bette was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Portage.  She had a great love of music, cats, and theater.     

Bette is survived by her children, Robert Schwoegler, Jr., McFarland, Patty Fritter (Terry), Madison, Marybeth (Jim) Richison, Webster, WI, and Katherine McHugh, Apple Valley, MN; her grandchildren, Jenny Prey (Joel), Jessie (Don) Hron, Danny, Megan and Maddy McHugh, and Tyler and Jimmy Richison; five great-grandchildren, a sister Mary Kay (Lou) Meier, Buena Park, CA, other relatives and many friends.  Bette was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Robert Daniel Schwoegler, her second husband, Wayne Reuhl, and her brother, Jack Fancher.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon, on Friday, October 2, 2009, at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Portage, with Fr. Jim Murphy presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
