Joan M. Barton

PORTAGE  -- Joan M. Barton, age 70, of Portage, died on Monday, February 1, 2010 at St. Clare Meadows, in Baraboo. 

Joan was born on September 4, 1939, in Sparta, the daughter of Clayton and Marie (McComb) Ziegler.  Joan worked at Portage Cleaners for many years, and recently at Walmart for many years.  She loved playing Bingo, square dancing, and “word find” puzzles.  Joan was a member of Portage United Methodist Church.

Joan is survived by her sons, Thomas (Rose) Barton, Delafield, and Gary (Jessica) Barton, Baraboo; her grandchildren, Joshua, Natasha, Gary Jr., and Tiffany Barton; her sisters, Barbara (Roy) Olivares, Marshall, and Linda (Kent) Moulton, Baraboo, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son John.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the Portage United Methodist Church, with Rev. Tom Countryman officiating.  Private burial will be held on Monday.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, and on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the services at the church.
