Rosemary Gorlitz (nee Ray)

KENOSHA, WI  /  PORTAGE  --  Rosemary Gorlitz (nee Ray), 87,  passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010 at Clare Bridge in Kenosha, WI.

She was born on Dec. 13, 1922 in Chicago, IL to Allen and Rose Ella Ray (nee Donnegan).  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph C. Gorlitz, her sister, Laverne Mohr (nee Ray),  Laverne’s husband, Bud Mohr, her brother,  Al  Ray, her brother-in-law, Joe Gorlitz and many dear friends.  She is survived and loved by many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great grandnephews along with their spouses.

She was especially fond of the little ones and often got down on the floor to play with them at their level while she was still able.  Laverne’s children considered her their second mother, and when Laverne passed away they asked Rosemary to wear Laverne’s mother’s ring in honor of that special bond.  Rosemary and Ralph were married for 52 years before he passed away in 1999 and were long-time residents of Saddle Ridge.   She enjoyed dancing, golf, swimming, knitting, crocheting, sewing, cards, movies, her ladies’ luncheons and travel.  She retired from Jewel Food Stores as an accounting clerk.  She and Ralph enjoyed warmer winters in Florida and Arizona.

A funeral mass will be said at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 at 11  a.m. with visitation at the church for a half hour prior.  Her ashes will be interred immediately following the service alongside her husband’s at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
