John “Jack” E. Hoppe

MONONA- John “Jack” E. Hoppe, age 87, died on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospice Care in Madison.

Jack was born in Portage, on January 30, 1923, the son of Harry and Emma (Heller) Hoppe.  He married Charlotte Seivert on January 30, 1947 in Portage.  Jack served his country in the United States Army during World War II.  He worked as a field engineer for Wisconsin Power and Light for 37 years.  Jack had a deep love for his family and friends, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.  Jack loved life and spent countless hours reading good mystery books, completing crossword puzzles and helping his wife decorate their home for the many holidays, especially Christmas. 

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Hoppe, Madison; his daughter, Diane (Duane) Meredith, Madison; his daughter-in-law, Edi Hoppe, Wisconsin Dells, his grandsons, Travis Hoppe, (Madison), Zachary (fiancé Kristh Cabrera) Meredith, Madison, and Tyler (Kristi) Meredith, Oshkosh; his granddaughter, Breanna (fiancé Ryan Blad) Hoppe, Wisconsin Dells; other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Lloyd, Dwight, Harold, and Norman and their wives, his son, Dennis Hoppe.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at McFarland Lutheran Church, 5529 Marsh Road, McFarland with Pastor Jerome Pribbenow officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice, relatives and friends for all their help during his illness.
