Florence Owen

 

STEVENS POINT  /  PORTAGE  --  Florence Owen, age 83, formerly of the Township of Lewiston, died on Monday, November 1, 2010 at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point.

Florence was born on November 15, 1926 in Roxbury Township, Dane County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Edwin and Minnie (Robson) Sternhagen.  She was married on January 12, 1949 to Louis W. Owen in Westfield.  She enjoyed fishing, gardening, sewing, puzzles, and traveling.

She is survived by her children, Lavern (Carol) Owen, Almond, Keith (Carol Jean) Owen, Portage, Barbara (Ted Busch) Rotramel, Milwaukee, Bonnie (Jeff) VanderZanden, Junction City, Mickey Owen, Bancroft, Sandra (Scott) Legwold, Waunakee, and Richard (Betti) Owen, Portage;  a sister, Donna Jean Hickling, Illinois;  15 grandchildren;  18 great-grandchildren;  other near relatives and many close friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louis on March 7, 2009, an infant daughter, Mary, two sons, Duane and Elmer, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with the Rev. David Hankins officiating.  Burial will follow in Cambria    Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage.
