PORTAGE  -- Richard “Richie” L. Warren, age 3 years, ended life’s journey at the American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison on Thursday, April 29, 2010. He was born on August 30, 2006 in Madison to Robert and Evonne (Smith) Warren.
As I reflect on my life, it is very clear now that God’s mission for me was to teach. My parents were blessed with my birth on August 30, 2006 at Meriter Hospital in Madison. I was currently attending St. John’s Lutheran School -3k program in Portage. My favorite joys of life came from listening to all varieties of music, playing with friends and always being cuddled with. Within my short life, I have been blessed to meet so many different medical professionals, but my most beloved staff include, Dr. Todd Varness and the entire Pediatric Endocrinology Team, Dr. Anglea O’Connor and Nurse Lala from Meriter Hospital.
Survivors include – Parents - Robert and Evonne Warren of Portage, Twin Brother – Robert and Sister – Cheyanne both at home; Grandpa – Roger Hemler of Portage; Grandma – Patricia Warren of Wautoma; Aunts and Uncles – Maria (Kevin) Ward of Baraboo, Richard Hemler ( Suzi Yenshesky) of Portage, Jim (Gloria) Warren of Cambridge, Judy Warren of Wautoma and David Warren of Wautoma; cousins, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his Grandmother – Nadine Hemler and Grandfather – Robert Warren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Portage with Rev. Alan Boeck officiating. Burial will be held later at the Silver Lake Cemetery, Portage. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 4 PM until 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or the American Family Pediatrics Specialty Clinics.
A special thanks to Pastor Boeck, Dr. Jamie Beversdorf, Nurse Sam and the entire PICU staff at the American Family Children’s Hospital for their expertise and unconditional compassion for my life and for giving my family the support they needed as my journey was coming to an end.
