William "Bill" N. Wilcox

INDIANAPOLIS  -- William “Bill” N. Wilcox, age 88, formerly of Portage, died on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at his home in Indianapolis.           

Bill was born on June 4, 1921 in Tomahawk, the son Gaylord and Addie (Leggett) Wilcox.  He served his country in the United States Army.  Bill was married to the former Florence Shaw who preceded him in death.  He enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre.  

Bill is survived by his, brother, Jerry (Candice) Wilcox, Rock Island, IL; his sisters, Virginia Nyman, Waukesha, and Margaret Pitera, Gresham, numerous nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.  Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Florence, and his sisters, Marge Vesely, Blanche Plumb, and Mildred McCarty.   

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with Fr. Jim Murphy officiating.  Inurnment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, with Military graveside services by Portage area veterans.
