Lloyd L. Bratsch, Jr.

PORTAGE –  Lloyd L. Bratsch, Jr., age 75, of Portage, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Divine Savior Healthcare Hospital in Portage.

Lloyd was born on November 22, 1936 in Olivia, Minnesota, the son of Lloyd and Victoria (Passon) Bratsch.  He attended country school in Stables, Minnesota through the eighth grade.  Lloyd was married to Mary Lou Pitcher on December 28, 1959 in Easton, Minnesota.  He worked for Dealers Manufacturing for 38 years; starting in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1962, and later transferring to Portage in 1983.  Lloyd moved to North View Assisted Living in Portage in 2009, due to ill health.  He enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards, and gambling.  Lloyd really enjoyed having a smoke with the guys at North View.

He is survived by his sister, Esie (Harry) Olds, Goose, South Carolina;  his half-sister, Katherine Likes, Detroit, Michigan;  his brothers-in-law, Tom O’Conner, St. Paul, MN, and Lyman Holton, St. Paul, MN;  nieces, nephews, other near relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Lou on March 7, 2010, his infant daughter at birth, Mary Kay, and two sisters, Ester O’Conner and Marie Holton.

Memorial services and burial will be held in Wells, Minnesota at a later date.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.

The family would like to thank Angie and the staff at North View, and Erv for all that they have done for Lloyd.
