Nancy Lee (Rohrbeck) Engstrom

PORTAGE  --  Nancy Lee (Rohrbeck) Engstrom, age 75, of Portage, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2011, at Tivoli, in Portage.

Nancy was born on September 6, 1935, in Portage, the daughter of Carl and Ruth Roecker .  She was married to Arwin Rohrbeck on June 12, 1954.  He preceded her in death in March 1973.  She was blessed to find Carl (Ben) Engstrom, who she married on December 10, 1976.  His passing in March 1985 was hard on the entire family.  Nancy worked as a babysitter for many years.  The joy she got from watching the kids grow up and how they stayed in touch was priceless.  Nancy was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Portage.  She was known for her delicious holiday meals and sitting on her porch swing to help pass the time.  Nancy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. 

Nancy is survived by her sons; Steven (Deborah) Rohrbeck, and James (Deb Childs) Rohrbeck, both of Portage; her grandsons, Andrew (Melissa) Rohrbeck, Janesville, Benjamin Rohrbeck, and Matthew Rohrbeck, both of Portage; her great-granddaughter, Abigail Rohrbeck, of Janesville; her sisters, Pat Pratt of Fond du Lac, and Linda (Clifford) Fischer, of Portage, many nieces and nephews, other near relatives and many dear friends.  Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her sisters, Mary Roecker, and Elaine Schumann, her brothers-in-law, Francis Pratt, Emery Berger, Vernon Rohrbeck, and Wallace Martin, her niece, Diane Blaine and her nephews, Dennis and Darrell Schumann.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Portage, with Pastor Alan Boeck, officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.  Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family. 

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Tivoli for their loving care and support given to Nancy and her family, and to the Southern Care Hospice staff and nurses who helped Nancy to pass away with honor and to be pain free on her up-coming journey.  You will always be remembered.
