James C. Kelly

ARLINGTON  /  POYNETTE –  James C. Kelly, age 72, of Arlington passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital.

James was born on September 10, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Esther (Stern) Kelly.  He was married on August 26, 1961 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Poynette to Doris Falkenstein.  James worked as an engineering draftsman for Strand Associates.  He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, and a member of Knights of Columbus.  He was a former member of the Leeds Township Planning Committee.  James’ focus and proudest accomplishment was his family.  Being a true Irishman, he enjoyed a traditional St. Patrick’s Day celebration and was known for his Irish blessings.  Jim had a passion for his creative inventions.  He enjoyed fishing, wine making, and traveling to tropical destinations.

He is survived by his wife, Doris (Falkenstein) Kelly;  four children, Jeffrey (Linda) Kelly, Poynette, Kathleen (Michael) Spahn, DeForest, Karen (Jason) Jennings, Poynette, and Cheryl (Jason) Kelly-Van Domelen, Sun Prairie;  his grandchildren, Danielle, Kelton, Ryan, Brenton, Kameron, Mason, Payton, and Grayden;  his brother, Donald (Patricia) Kelly, Green Bay;  his sister, Calene (Jerry Bond) Ehrlich, Elroy;  his aunt, Ruth Rea, Lansing, Iowa;  his mother-in-law, Agnes Falkenstein;  his sister-in-law, Agnes Bennett;  his brothers-in-law, Richard, Dennis, and Ronald (Renee) Falkenstein;  other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Poynette, with Fr. Ray Dischler presiding.  Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette, and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.  The Rosary will be led by St. Thomas Knights of Columbus on Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
