Jack S. Mootz,

PORTAGE –  Jack S. Mootz, age 82, of Portage, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Divine Savior Healthcare Hospital.

Jack was born on May 14, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Henry A. and Harriet M. (Hansen) Mootz. He graduated from Endeavor Academy.  Jack served his country with the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1953 in Germany.  He farmed and hauled milk for Portage and Westfield creameries for 16 years.  Jack was an antique collector and loved to work on antique tractors. 

He is survived by his brother, Henry Mootz, Portage;  his step-brother, Norbert (Arlene) Stahmer, Endeavor;  special friends, Chris Hedding, Pete Klinner, and Mike and Carmen Griffith;  many nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard, and a half-sister, Janet Nellen.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with the Rev. David Hankins officiating.  Burial will follow in Oxford Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, and on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
