David L. Ryce

POYNETTE  -- David L. Ryce, age 76, died on Friday, July 22, 2011 at his home in the Township of Dekorra.

David was born on July 21, 1935, in Wisconsin Rapids, the son of Amy Cleary and Leon Ryce.  He married Germaine Rice on May 26, 1962, in Stevens Point.  She preceded him in death on August 13, 2009.  David served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War.  He farmed in Dekorra Township and was a postal carrier.  David loved hunting, fishing, camping, and taking his family on road trips.  He especially loved his grandchildren, attending all of their activities.   

He is survived by his eight children, Denise (John) Renz, Poynette, David (Libby) Ryce, Reedsburg, Michael (Jan) Ryce, Poynette, Cindy (Mike) Laube, Sun Prairie, Janel (Buddy) Savich, Poynette, Gerald (Melissa) Ryce, Poynette, Stephanie (Tony) Orr, Poynette, and Jolene (Jon) Stark, Arlington;  seventeen grandchildren; two brothers, William Wild, Bayfield, and Walter Wild, Sequim, WA; his sisters, Sharon (Fred) Jennings, of Salem, OH, Sandy Harmon, of Verona and Colleen (David) Anderson, of Madison, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amy Cleary, Leon Ryce, Walter Wild, and his wife Germaine.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2011 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Poynette, with Fr. Raymond Dischler officiating.  Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Poynette.  Also, visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass, on Monday at the church.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette is assisting the family.
