Helen R. Simonson

 

PORTAGE  --  Helen R. Simonson, age 86, died on Saturday, August 6, 2011, at Tivoli in Portage.

Helen was born on July 3, 1925, in Pardeeville, the daughter of Bernard and Vivian (Green) Haskin.  She married Orrin Simonson in 1946;he preceded her in death on March 19, 1993.  Helen had been employed at both Weyenberg Shoe Factor and Ray-O-Vac in Portage.  She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Portage.       

Helen is survived by her children; Steven (Deborah) Simonson, Las Vegas, Nev., Ricky Simonson, Montello, David (Linda) Simonson, Montello, and Darwin Simonson, Montello; her grandchildren, Trina (Brian) Schultz, Nathan (Crystal) Simonson, Matt and Nick Simonson; her great-grandchildren, Mitchel, Nathanel, Ryan, Jessalyn, Spencer, and Keira; her sister, Phyllis Gerbitz, Endeavor, other relatives, and many friends.  Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Orrin Simonson, her son Stewart Simonson, an infant daughter, Sharon Simonson, and her sisters, Shirley Klaush, and Billie Jean Martinelli.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2011, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage, with Pastor Daniel Kelm officiating.  Burial will follow in Pardeeville Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
