Helen M. Sternberg

 

RHINEBECK, NY / PORTAGE  --  Helen M. Sternberg, age 67, of Portage, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo.

Helen was born on September 13, 1943 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Mark and Mary (Maurin) Ogrizovich.  She graduated from Wauwatosa East High School in 1961, and attended Milwaukee Institute of Technology, where she received her license for a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1963.  Helen was married on June 20, 1964 to Lawrence Sternberg, from upstate New York, where they resided from 1966 until 1979.  She was most recently employed by ARC of Columbia County.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Kelly (Shane) Vedvik, Wisconsin Dells;  special granddaughter, Elisa Sternberg;  two sisters,  Rosalie (Claire) McDonald, Rice Lake, and Beverly Ogrizovich, Portage;  three brothers, Michael Ogrizovich, West Allis, David (Chris) Ogrizovich, Cecil, WI, and Peter (Sandy) Trbovich, West Allis;  many other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lawrence, and her sister, Shirley Ogrizovich.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with the Rev. Dick Inglett officiating.  Inurnment will be private.  Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, or the Columbia County Humane Society.
