George M. Tomczak

POYNETTE  –  George M. Tomczak, age 70, of Poynette, died on Monday, August 22, 2011, at his home in Dekorra Township.

George was born on July 19, 1941, in Phillips, the son of Joseph and Margaret Dudo Tomczak.  He married Evelyn Briesemeister on October 14, 1961, in Poynette.  George was self-employed as a carpenter and was the owner/operator of Let George Do It.  He had also owned taxi services in Richland Center and in Portage.  George worked as a building and maintenance manager at Pioneer Places.  He was a good friend as he was always there when you needed him.  He loved hunting, fishing and camping.  George was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, and the Stanley F. Binicki Council 6997 Knights of Columbus, in Poynette.

George is survived by his wife, Evelyn, Poynette; his children, Jackie Tomczak, Scott Tomczak, both of Poynette, and Sandy (John) Degner, Reedsville; six grandchildren, Samantha (Aaron Van Caster) Degner, Allison, Emily, Isabel, and Colton Degner, and Jeffrey Tomczak; his sisters and brothers, Rose Mary (Jack) Terry, Mesa, AZ, Dick Tomczak, Florida, Robert (Joyce) Tomczak, Poynette, Jim Tomczak, Fort Atkinson, John Tomczak, Madison, Liz (Mike) Ashmore, Barneveld, Ron Tomczak, Hercules, CA, and Gary (Wendy) Tomczak, Cincinnati, OH; his mother-in-law, Bertha Briesemeister, Rio;  sisters-in-law, Virginia (Larry) Olson, Rio, and Bernice Thiele, Portage; a brother-in-law, Edward Briesemeister, Rio;  other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Tomczak, his parents, his step-father, Dallas Wills, his sister, Delores Burton, his brother, Donald Tomczak, and his sister-in-law, Prudence Tomczak. 

Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Poynette with Fr. Raymond Dischler officiating.  Inurnment will be private.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church.   The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette is assisting the family.
