John A. "Jack" Bowman

PORTAGE –  John A. “Jack” Bowman, age 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 5, 2012 at his home.

John was born on September 18, 1939, in Madison, the only son of Robert and Frances (Cook) Bowman.  After moving from the family farm near Lodi, John grew up in Portage where he graduated high school in 1957.  John served in the National Guard after high school and was called up to active service.  He married Marcia K. Jensen on October 29, 1966 and they had one son.

An entrepreneur at heart John developed several businesses during his life, working in plastics, solar and printing industries.  He enjoyed photography, computers, and was an avid sports fan.  John will be remembered by his family and all the great friends he has made, and for his great sense of humor. 

John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marcia; his son, Corey (Marcia) Bowman; his grandchildren, Emily and Alex Bowman, other relatives and many close friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at North Scott Baptist Church, with Pastor Thomas Gray presiding.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the church.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
