Gladys A. Bennett

 

PORTAGE – Gladys A. Bennett, age 94, of Portage, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Tivoli in Portage.

Gladys was born on October 17, 1918 in Fort Fairfield, Maine, the daughter of Burton and Grace (Sullivan) Dixon.  She was married to Edward C. Bennett, who preceded her in death.  Gladys enjoyed sewing, knitting and crafts, and she loved to cook and bake for her family.  She was a member of Moundville Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children, Frances (August) Miller, Winter Haven, Florida, Roma Bennett, Winter Haven, Florida, Jean Bennett-Ames, Connecticut, and Edward C. Bennett, Jr., Connecticut;  her sister, Barbara Christian, Canada;  many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.  Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Michael Hamm, two stillborn children and a daughter, Jane.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Private inurnment will be in Moundville Methodist Cemetery.
