 Ruth A. Dickow

 

PORTAGE –  Ruth A. Dickow, age 93, of Portage, died on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Divine Savior Healthcare Hospital in Portage.

Ruth was born on September 12, 1918, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Arthur William and Ida (Koester) Kleist.  Ruth’s mother died in 1920, when Ruth was 18 months old, and she was raised by her grandparents, William F. and Theresa Kleist in Portage.  Ruth worked as a stenographer for Rogers and Owens Law Office and the State of Wisconsin Probation Office with Don Collins.  Ruth was famous for her smile.  She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Portage.

She is survived by her half-sister, Alice “Molly” Hoopengarner, her niece, Patricia Hoopengarner, her grand-nephew, Ben, all of Wyoming; her sister-in-law, Ruth Evans, Portage; her niece, Renee Ramsay; her nephew, James (Diane) Ramsay; a very special friend and neighbor, Joyce Scherbert, Portage, cousins, other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Charles “Chuckie” at age 11, a brother, Rolland Kleist in 1984, and her step-mother Pearl Kleist.  

A family memorial service will be held with the Rev. Alan Boeck officiating.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage.
