Rozella J. “Rosie” Gunderson

POYNETTE  /  ARLINGTON –  Rozella J. “Rosie” Gunderson, age 90, of Arlington, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at Meriter Hospital in Madison.

Rozella was born on May 23, 1922 in Poynette, the daughter of Jess and Rena (Abel) Babcock.  She was married on March 21, 1942 in Rio, Wisconsin to Willard J. Gunderson.  He preceded her in death on May 17, 1996.  They farmed most of their life in the Poynette area, and spent the last 25 years in Arlington.  Rosie was a cook at Poynette schools for many years.  In 2001, she moved to Pioneer Place in Poynette.  Rosie and Willard loved fishing, dancing, and playing cards.  One of Rosie’s hobbies was baking and decorating wedding cakes.

She is survived by her daughters, Doris (Mark) Hodgson, and Barb Reddeman;  her special friend, Carol Gunderson;  her grandchildren, Reed (Jim Macho) McMillan, Sonja (Jeff) Noble, Rob (Toni) McMillan, Robin Reddeman, Matt (Staci) Reddeman, Jacob (Shar) Gunderson and Crystal (Jay Hammond) Gunderson;  eleven great-grandchildren;  two great-great grandchildren;  other relatives and many close friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Wesley, her son-in-law, Bob Reddeman, and her brothers, Raymond and Mayne Babcock.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2012 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Arlington, with the Rev. Marion Hendrickson officiating.  Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Poynette.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the church.

The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette is assisting the family.
