Bertha C. Inselman

 

POYNETTE – Bertha C. Inselman, age 97, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the Remington House in Pardeeville.

Bertha was born on July 2, 1914 at Dane, the daughter of Michael and Christina (Ziegler) Falkenstein. She attended grade school at St. Michaels in Dane, graduating from eighth grade.  On May 10, 1933 she was united in marriage to Frederick Inselman at Zion Evangelical Lutheran in Arlington. She became a member of Zion Church and served on Dorcas Society and ladies aid committees along with helping out on other social events.  Fred and Bertha farmed in the Arlington area until their retirement.  Bertha enjoyed gardening, reading, and taking care of the chickens and other duties on the farm.  She also enjoyed fishing and playing bingo. She also helped out at the Poynette nutrition site for several years after moving to Poynette.  In her spare time, she knitted doll clothes for a number of dolls and also made a number of afghans for her grandchildren and others.

Bertha is survived by her two sons, Herbert (Lois) Inselman, Cedar Grove and Fredrick Inselman, Arlington.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Diane (Kurt) Rubsam, Douglas Inselman, Barbara Van Stelle, David (Dawn) Inselman and Dana Inselman.  Great-grandchildren include Amy Vanderwaal, Angela Inselman, Jeffrey Rubsam, Jennifer Van Stelle, Stephanie Rubsam, Nicholas Van Stelle, Jacob Rubsam, Matthew Rubsam, Kyle Manthe and Dustin Branton.  And there are five great-great-grandchildren also.  Bertha is also survived by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bauer, Hornitos, CA; her special friend Betty, along with other family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick, sisters, Elizabeth Stoltenberg and Rosanna Peterson, brother, Dennis Falkenstein, bothers-in-law, Henry, John and Herman Inselman, sisters-in-law, Ella Russell and Ida Pokorny, her parents, Michael and Christina Falkenstein and a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Inselman.

Family and friends may come to visitation at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church on Monday May 21, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.  The service will be officiated by Pastor   Scott Schwertfeger.  Burial will take place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery following the service.

A memorial fund has been established for Pioneer Place in Poynette, The Remington House in Pardeeville and Zion Lutheran Church.

The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette is assisting the family.
