Stephen Robert Klahn

PORTAGE  /  ST. PAUL, MN  –  Stephen Robert Klahn, age 50, currently of Portage, formerly of St. Paul, MN, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Tivoli in Portage.

Stephen was born on February 3, 1962 in Columbus, the son of John E. and Lucy M. (Weber) Klahn.  He attended St. Mary Grade School and graduated high school from Holy Name Seminary in 1980, Western Wisconsin Technical College and Inver Grove Community College, Minnesota, receiving his associate degree in construction management.  Steve has most recently worked at Interstate Improvement of Faribault, Minnesota as a project manager.  He has resided in the Twin Cities area for the last 15 years.  Steve loved hunting and fishing, and had a great love for his Labrador retrievers. 

He is survived by his mother, Lucy Klahn, Portage;  his sisters and brother, Mary (Rick) Taylor, Portage, Christopher (Donna) Klahn, Montello, Anne (Mark) Klahn-Dabroski, Pleasant Prairie, and Rachel (Tim) Klahn Cleary, Portage;  dear nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many close friends.  He was preceded in death by his father, John in 1975, and his grandparents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 305 W. Cook St., Portage, WI, with Fr. Jim Murphy presiding.  Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Columbus.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, where a Scripture Service will be held at 3:45 p.m.  Visitation will also be on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

The family wishes to express their thanks to Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, for the wonderful care he received.
