Joseph “Joe” E. Lynch

PORTAGE – Joseph “Joe” E. Lynch, age 82, of Portage, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012 at Our House in Portage.

Joe was born on July 23, 1930 in Marcellon Township, Wisconsin, the son of John Henry and Elsie (Haberkorn) Lynch.  He served his country with the U. S. Army.  On September 19, 1959, Joe was married to Lorraine “Dolly” Dahl in Portage at St. Mary Catholic Church.  He was a life-long carpenter, and helped his kids with building projects.  Joe enjoyed camping with his family, and loved watching the Packers and Badgers.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine “Dolly”; his children, Gregory (Debbie) Lynch, David Lynch, and Brian (Karlene) Lynch;  his grandchildren, Grace Lynch, William Lynch, Dustin Lynch, Fae Terpstra, and Fred (Trina) Cromwell;  five great-grandchildren;  his sisters-in-law, Dee Lynch and Darlene Udell;  other near relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Tom and Al Lynch, his sister, Lorretta Metcalf, and his brother-in-law, Skip Udell.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage, with Fr. Jim Murphy presiding. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, with military honors provided by Portage area veterans.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m.  Visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church.

The family would like to extend special thanks to their good friend, Judy Vertz, Dr. Gerald Krumpos, and the staffs at Southern Care Hospice and Our House.
