Elton Joseph (Joe) Morrison

 

PORTAGE – Elton Joseph (Joe) Morrison, age 82, died on Friday, March 9, 2012 at Tivoli Nursing Home in Portage.

Joe was born in Columbus on June 2, 1929, the son of Judge E.J. and Anna (Hinn) Morrison. He moved to Portage as a young boy, and attended the Portage schools. He married his wife, Sonja Offerdahl, in 1974.  Joe was employed by Weyenberg Shoe Factory, Portage Industries Corporation and in later years as a crossing guard.

He is survived by his wife, Sonja; three sisters, Annette Luckow of New Berlin, Mary (Phil) Ekvall-Bauer of Wildwood, FL, and Beth (Lester) Affeldt of Madison; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church in Portage where he served as an Elder and Deacon, and was a lifelong member, with Rev. Dave Hankins officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. A lunch will follow the service and the burial will follow in the Wyocena Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses at Tivoli for their excellent care of Joe.

Memorial can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Portage or the Columbia County Humane Society.
