Molly M. Phillips

DE FOREST  --  Molly Manske Phillips, of DeForest, age 57, passed away at UW Hospital on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Molly was born on March 1, 1956 at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage. The daughter of the late Ned and Vera (Quinn) Manske. Molly graduated in 1974 from Westfield High School. After high school Molly graduated in 1978 from the School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Molly was well schooled in business computers and eventually turned to accounting as her profession, working at Burroughs Computer Co., Craft Supply, Fox Water, and finally Burton Rubber.  Molly then pursued her passion for crafts after retiring in 1995. With the help of her loving feline boys, Sabre, Rocky, and Blue she made sweaters, baby blankets, scarves, hats, and booties.  The boys were always there to help her unroll balls of yarn. Molly’s greatest joy was in giving her creations to family, friends, and neighbors. Molly loved to bowl and was a league Secretary for several years. Molly also loved to fish, though our fishing trips seemed to have a lot of shopping, which was another passion. She always told people she taught me to fish.

Molly was united in marriage on June 17th, 1978 with her loving husband Terry. Together, we celebrated 35 years of marriage this year.  We were loyal Badger fans starting in 1974 with football tickets. Molly’s health permitting, we were going to make this year’s homecoming game, still having season tickets. She made it to the 1994 Rose Bowl, to watch a great win. Molly also loved the Packers, having Brett Favre and Aaron Rogers jerseys.

Molly will be greatly missed by her loving husband Terry, brother- and sister-in-law, Doug and Linda Phillips, family, friends, and neighbors.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage.  Inurnment will be private.  A celebration of Molly’s life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Oxford VFW Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.  A contribution will be made in Molly’s name towards breast cancer research.
