Daniel R. Bridge

PORTAGE  --  Daniel R. Bridge, age 63, of Portage, passed away, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee.

Dan was born on November 8, 1949 in Madison, the son of Robert and Emily (Coats) Bridge.  He graduated from Monona Grove High School.  Dan was married to Sharon Collins on December 11, 1981 at the Columbia County Courthouse.  He had been a meat cutter for C & P in Madison, Burnstad’s in Portage, Pick n’ Save and Piggly Wiggly.  Dan also worked for Rhyme Supply Co. in Portage, and in 1995, he began in custodial service for Portage Community Schools.  He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and ATVing.  Dan had a great love for his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon;  his mother, Emily Jane Bridge, Wyocena;  four children, Rachael (Robert) Schmidt, DeForest, Chad (Becky) Collins, Portage, Sarah (Joe) Holford, DeForest, and Becky (Ron) Foye, Township of Dekorra;  eight grandchildren, Reanna and Ryan Schmidt, Cody and Brianna Collins, Brandon and Skylar Holford, and Brooke and Elizabeth Foye;  his brother, Tom (Karen) Bridge, Monona;  his sister, Patty (Hobert) Peterson, Ocala, Florida;  his sister-in-law, Rose Bridge, Mesa, Arizona;  other relatives and many close friends.  He was preceded in death by his father, his brother, Mike, and an infant brother.

A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage.  Inurnment will be private.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Namrata Magar at UW Health in Portage and the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
