Donald E. Germain Jr.

PORTAGE  --  Donald E. Germain Jr. passed on to the Lord’s happy hunting grounds on Saturday October 19th, 2013.

He was born to Donald and Arlene Germain on August 5th, 1959 in Madison Wisconsin.  Don spent his childhood years growing up in Madison and his formative years on the family farm outside of Poynette Wisconsin.  Don graduated from Poynette Senior High School in 1977, the M.A.T.C. Parts Technology program in 1978, and the Automotive Technology program in 1980.  He worked in and around the Portage area at various employers in maintenance positions.  He was a dedicated outdoorsman and an avid Harley-Davison rider. His favorite pastime was teaching his nieces and nephews how to enjoy the great outdoors through shooting sports, fishing and ecology. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him for his colorful stories and mechanical knowhow.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, mother, Arlene, and niece, Amanda Germain.  He is survived by his father, Donald Germain (stepmother, Phylis) of Portage, Wisconsin;   brother, David (Cathy) Germain of Montello, Wisconsin;  brother, Darrel Germain of Pardeeville Wisconsin;  brother, Douglas Germain of Buna, Texas;  sister, DeAnn (Daniel) Richards of Lodi, Wisconsin;  sister, Denice (Dave) Mender of Grand Marsh, Wisconsin;  many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage.  He will be placed in his final resting place at the Rocky Run Catholic Cemetery following the service.
