William H. “Bill” Moritz

PORTAGE  --  William H. “Bill” Moritz, age 80, of Portage, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.

Bill was born on October 2, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Henry and Grace (Hanke) Moritz.  He was married to Nancy Jensen on September 18, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois, and moved to Westfield, Wisconsin in 1971, where he worked for 21 years at Coloma Meats.  Bill had many good friends throughout his route.  Bill and Nancy were the resident managers at The Phoenix in Portage for eight years, until Bill retired.  He was an avid Packers and Badgers fan, and loved talking sports with the men in the family.  Bill enjoyed trout fishing and always caught one for his mother-in-law for Mother’s Day.  He will always be remembered for his jokes and one-liners.  Bill looked forward to his yearly trips to Laughlin, Nevada with his wife and son.  He enjoyed all the family gatherings and dinners.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy;  his son, Steven Moritz;  his daughter, Susan (Mark) Schroeder;  two grandchildren, Melissa (Jeremiah) Angell, and Ryan (Megan) Schroeder;  four great-grandchildren, Hailey Angell, Christian Angell, Caitlyn Schroeder and Henry Schroeder, all of Portage;  his nieces, Sharon (Mike) Kelly, Kenosha and Debra (James) Lilla, Illinois;  his nephew, Robert Czyryk, Illinois;  his cousins, Roger (Joanne) Doering, Illinois, Paul (Theresa) Doering, Illinois, and Carol Schnable, Illinois;  other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Carol, his sister and brother-in-law, Lila and Chester, his brother, Richard, and his cousin, Ken Schnable.

There will be a gathering of friends and family at Riverwood Senior Apartments on Saturday, March 9, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.  Inurnment will be in Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery in Wittenberg, Wisconsin at a later date.
