Raymond F. “Bud” Robinson

PORTAGE  --  Raymond F. “Bud” Robinson, age 89, of Portage, died on Saturday, November 16, 2013
at Divine Savior Healthcare Hospital in Portage surrounded by his family.

Bud was born on October 28, 1924 in Portage, the son of Fred and Catherine (Hudson) Robinson. He served his country in the Navy from 1943 to 1945. All of his service was on the USS Saratoga. Bud married Betty Jean Clemmons on May 1, 1948. He attended Elgin Watchmakers College in Elgin, Illinois. Bud was in business with his mother at Quinn’s Jewelers from 1945 until her death in1975 when he became sole owner, retiring in 2008. Bud was a Portage Alderman from 1964 to 1974. He belonged to the American Legion and VFW and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, Portage; his children, Susan Rae (James) Kreier, Amery and Beth Ann (Tony) Smith, Portage; his grandchildren, Jason (Pamela) Kreier, Clear Lake, Rae Ann (Christopher) Ailts, New Richmond, Quinn Smith, Portage, and Ashley  (Adam) Kreger, Portage; 5 great-grandchildren, Natalie and Derek Kreier, Nevaeh and Adrianna Ailts, Abigail Kreger; 1 nephew, Tom (Denise) Derey, Portage; 1 niece, Jane Swartwout, Rockford, Illinois and cousin, Kathleen Callahan, River Forest, Illinois; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Kathleen Derey and husband, Cecil, 1 niece, Jean Anglim, and special aunt and uncle, Raymond and Agnes Hudson, Elkwook Park, Illinois.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Portage area veterans. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church Fund.
